Norris Prevost
Candidate for the Roseau Central Constituency

“I thank God for the gifts of Courage, Commitment, Capability, Honesty and Hard work, with which he has enabled me to serve you the people of Roseau, as your MP for the past 5 years. I thank you the people of Roseau, for the Great Trust you have placed in me. I am committed to give you the best representation in Parliament and in the Community.”
Norris Prevost holds a Masters in Public Administration from Harvard University, Kennedy School of Government and a Masters in Business Administration and Bachelor of Science in Agricultural Economics, from University of the West Indies.
He served as Minister of Tourism from 1995 to 2000, Senator in Parliament from 1990 to 2005, and won the Roseau Central seat in 2005.
“I love sports. Sports have a lot to do with the Community Spirit that I have today. That is why in the Roseau Improvement Committee Inc. (RIC Inc), I dedicate so much effort to Sports. Unfortunately, for the past ten years, Roseau does not have a place for the youths to play Sports and this has really broken down their spirit. When I am re-elected on December 18th, my first pledge is to build the playing field for the Roseau Community and the Grammar School”, says Norris Prevost.
Prevost’s love for Sports goes back to school days, when he played “sa ky tapay” in Windsor Park with boys like Hosay, and Lafond, and would sometimes, sit on the Windsor Park stands until dark, listening to men like Thomas Baptise, Patrick John, and Johnson Isaac, one of Dominica’s best goal keepers, discussing why Combermere had won or lost the game.
Under His Patronage, RIC Inc. has been in the forefront of organizing community sports in Roseau; in basketball, volley ball, Dominoes, small goal football, women’s cricket and rounders. The RIC Mothers Day Celebration, RIC Children’s Christmas Party, and the RIC Sunday lunch for the needy of Roseau, have become signature programs.
“It pains me to see the poverty in Roseau. I pledge to break this chain of poverty in Roseau. I will assist the Medical School with buildings and land in Canefield for them to expand, and give the Old Roseau Health Centre back to the people of Roseau so the youth, fathers and mothers can establish their small businesses and create jobs.”
