Candidate for the Salybia Constituency

Claudius Sanford, a proud Kalinago of the Carib Territory made a name for himself at a young age by obtaining eight CXC O Level subjects whilst attending the St.Andrews High School. He went on to be a UWI qualified Teacher, certified in Education, Physical Education and sports at the Macolin Sports School from Bienne Switzerland respectively.

Always proud of his heritage and involved in his community he was a member of the Ocean 4 Youth Group from an early age and President of the Carib Roots Youth Group. After his initial foray into tertiary education Sanford returned home to be Project Manager of the Mahaut-River Sports Complex, during which he was largely responsible for developing the project proposal, seeking sponsorship, recruiting workers and directing the work plan to ensure successful completion of the project in estimated time period.

Sanford has also been involved in many social and developmental endeavors such as Chairman of the Carib Territory fair Trade Farmers Group, Vice president of the Dominica Students Association at Cave Hill, Organizer of the 1^st Dominica Relay Marathon held in the Carib Territory, founder and president of the Winds of Change group in the Carib Territory as well as  Organizer of `Combined Forces; an initiative seeking redress for the Unfair selection and treatment of non Barbadian players on the combined colleges and campuses cricket team (UWI)

More recently he has been employed as the Sports Administrator of the North Eastern District Sports Division and a Lecturer in Economics at the Dominica State College. In 2005 he was appointed an Opposition Senator and holds this position up to today.

Sanford has never stopped improving on his education and in 2002 obtained an Advance Diploma in Human Resources Planning and Development also receiving the President's gold medal for academic excellence. Today he holds a B.Sc. (Hons.) in Economics and Management from the University of the West Indies. As the Deputy Political Leader of the United Workers Party, he hopes to bring further edification to the services he offers his constituents.
