Candidate for the Morne Jaune/Riviere Cyrique Constituency

Abraham Browne

Abraham Browne was born and raised in his village of Grand Fond, where he attended the local primary school.   From there, he attended the St. Mary's Academy where he excelled and quickly went on to achieve Diplomas in Tropical Agriculture and Typing at well accredited institutions both London and Canada.

Ever the servant to his country Browne was employed as a Library Assistant at the Public Library in Roseau, and then later Executive Officer at the Social Centre.  He was also at the forefront of many projects during his time as a Credit/Projects Officer of the National Development Foundation of Dominica.

Browne always had an active interest in sports especially as a tool to steer the country's youth in a better direction.  He worked as a Sports Officer in the Ministry of Education and Sports, was Secretary of the Dominica Table Tennis Association for 23 years, as well as organizer of the South-East Sports Committee together with party leader Mr. Ron Green.  He served as a committee member of the Dominica Olympic Committee between 2001 - 2005 and was the Dominica Olympic Committee’s representative at a Sports and Environment Seminar in Costa Rica in 2006.  He has since organized the Morne C Fond Cricket team and is an active player.

Browne has remained involved in his home community as a prior Elected Member of the Grand Fond Village Council as well as holding the position of Treasurer at the Grand Fond Credit Union.   In May 2005 Browne was elected by the people of Grand Fond, Morne Jaune, Frayal and Riviere Cyrique to serve in Parliament under the United Workers Party.

His most recent successes include being Coordinator of the From Offending to Achieving (F.O.T.A.) Program at the Social Centre, submitting prize winning best practices for boys at risk sponsored by the World Bank and Commonwealth Secretariat, May 2008, and being selected as sole representative to International Parliamentary Governance Seminar, Westminster, Brussels, Edinburgh November 2009.
